Kingsmead GCSE results: analysis of recent performance
In 2019, over 53% of pupils gained at least one of the top grades (7-9 formerly A/A*) an increase of 3% on the previous year, as well as an overall pass rate (Grade 4 and above) for pupils of 80% for Maths.
Many children achieving these top grades have joined the school midway though their education and have improved their results dramatically in a relatively short period. Yet again this year, pupils achieved significantly better than early indicators (Year 7 prediction exams) suggested as a result of the value-added progress for which Kingsmead is renowned.
In 2018, 90% of the year Group achieved five or more GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, 80% achieved at least 5 GCSEs including English and Maths. 50% of pupils achieved at least one grade 7 or higher in their exams.
This was the third year in a row that Kingsmead (according to The Telegraph) was the best performing school among Wirral’s all ability Schools.
In 2017 our GCSE students and staff celebrated 92% gaining five or more GCSEs at C and above, including English and Maths. Kingsmead was again the best performing among Wirral’s non-selective schools.
In 2016, 80% of pupils gained five A* – Cs; for 72% of pupils these five included English, Maths and Science, and Kingsmead became the highest-performing all-ability school in Wirral.
Headmaster Mark Gibbons comments:” I could not be more proud of our pupils’ efforts and results – and of the work our staff have put into helping them achieve them. We welcome children of all abilities and our promise is that Kingsmead will do everything possible to get the very best from every pupil, irrespective of their baseline ability. We spare no effort to ensure that all our pupils are given opportunity to succeed.”
