Life as a Sixth Former

Kingsmead’s 23-acre campus, modern dedicated senior block, peaceful study areas, acres of woodland and playing fields, the indoor swimming pool, sports hall, theatre/cinema, music/drama room, computer suites, science laboratories and tennis court all make it a wonderful environment in which to study.

Our smaller groups allow a high level of individual attention: students receive all the support they need and are continuously challenged. The extended day is punctuated with a half hour morning break (longer at lunchtime), filled with a wealth of sports and clubs. This allow Sixth Form students, separated by their subject choices, regular opportunities to gather together and interact, lending a healthy balance to every day.

Growing towards adulthood is challenging; should issues arise there is instant, proactive and sensitive engagement between the school, the student and the parents.

Whole school assemblies and regular concerts see the entire community working together, and the English Speaking Board examination and Duke of Edinburgh award provide further challenge.

Lectures, theatre visits and field trips abound. We have a strong community engagement via St Luke’s Church, Hoylake with students helping to run children’s clubs and fundraising for local causes.
